I visited Turkey in November 1996 with a Dutch work colleague from Utrecht, Annelies. We took a tour bus around the country. She arranged it which was OK except all she could get was a german speaking tour guide, which was no problem for her because all Dutch people speak German (and about 15 other languages). I, on the other hand had to dredge up my German from college days. This is a shot of Alanya, where we stayed.
We were trying to learn Arabic. Annalies' technique was to write key words on her wrist. Here she is at breakfast writing some new words.
