Trip to Texas and More Bahamas

It’s been a while since my last post. Since then I took a 3 week break to visit Port Aransas, Texas, where my Dad was vacationing away from Colorado. As luck would have it, the weather turned bad after I left, with freezing temperatures, loss of power and heat, and no water. Fortunately for me, I missed all that. Here are a few photos of my time there.

The condo had a heated pool which my Dad and uncle Frank used as much as possible. Here they are in pool, Frank chatting with some neighbors.

Fishing is big in Port Aransas. We witnessed a few big catches like this one.

The condo was near a beach, which was perfect for walking. Here is a view under a pier that was nearby.

I cooked baby back ribs one day and asked Frank to stop by a local gourmet shop to get some BBQ sauce. This is what he returned with. it was great!

At one nature park, this was posted on a board. What great idea! I want to meet this person.

Ira Bloom, local trespasser.

We looked unsuccessfully for a whooping crane.

Returning to Florida, I made another short trip to the Bahamas. I had some great weather at my anchorage. Here is a short video clip.

Sunset photo.

Sailboats at another anchorage.

The hull of my boat had not been cleaned for several months and had a lot of barnacles and algae growing on it. In Freeport I found these two guys who spent two hours cleaning the underside of my boat.

Occasionally I tie my boat up to the seawall which lines the Lucaya Waterway. this way I can get on land for a bit and hike around.

A short video of my return trip to Florida. Pretty much uneventful.

I found this on the internet. About sums up sailing as far as I can tell.

That’s it for now. I’ll hang around south Florida or make a trip to the Keys next week.
